I don't know if 'it' refers to Lyle or the song, but I was a boy last time I checked (which, being a boy, wasn't very long ago), and I'd like to think I get it.

'It' refers to Lyle but since none of the girls have commented, maybe it's all in my head.
He is good thought isn't he?
Both the boy and girl(s) in this house get it... big fans ever since 1991 - sadly he doesn't get up to Ottawa often enough, but I think we've managed three shows at the NAC and one in London before we emigrated.
